Oooo, mami

I was so ashamed to admit I was an Umami virgin. So excited I finally got to experience it on Sunday. Great service, clean and great food. We started with the house made pickle platter which was a lot of fun. Kimchi, spicy and bread and butter pickles, pickled cherry tomatoes, pickled beets, shiitakes, awesome. The only thing I cannot stand is okra. The hairy exterior and slimy cactus-like interior just turn my stomach. Nasty. Aside from that, the pickles go off.

Next we had the beet and homemade ricotta salad with truffled dressing. It was delish and looked like a plate of sashimi with the beautifully fanned thin slices of pale pink beets. We split the Earth burger (mushroom & edamame patty, white soy aioli, truffle ricotta, cipollini onions, lettuce, slow-roasted tomato) & umami burger (shiitake mushroom, caramelized onions, roasted tomato, parmesan crisp, umami ketchup). And a side of sweet potato fries (duh). It was pretty awesome. I'm glad I went to yoga that morning.
