Eek. I just got my blood test results back from my ALCAT Food Allergy tests and it turns out I have a few items that need to be removed from the old diet for the next 3 months. Some of them are very bizarre; cherries? Crab? Halibut? I can live without those for 3 months but avoiding yeast, gliadin and whey is going to be challenging. Lucky for me I have always confused my husband with my interest in "wacky" alternative grains like quinoa, amaranth and millet. I cannot have anything with Wheat, Barley or Rye. These grains are in almost everything if you start reading labels with an eagle eye.
So....I spent 2 hours and $200 in Whole Foods last week gathering my ammunition to combat these sensitivities. Ha! I will challenge them to a duel in the kitchen. They don't know what they're dealing with. I have read Hip Chick's Guide to Macrobiotics
, Cooking the Whole Foods way
and (parts of) Nourishing Traditions
. I know how to deal with alternative foods in the kitchen. Muu-hu-hu-haaaa.
Noooo, really. This is my time to start experimenting with and posting gluten, yeast and dairy sensitive recipes. I am making the committment NOW. : )
